It's that time of year again. The NFL Super Bowl will again look to take the nation captive next Sunday.  Sports fans worldwide will be glued to their tv, non-sports fans can't wait to see what the Super Bowl ads will be like this time around, and the rest, well, they are stuck either hanging out hoping the sports fans do not get too obnoxious, fighting for seating space, grazing the buffet, and trying not to be a bother.  For all of you that fit into the latter category, a luxurious getaway weekend spent being pampered and escaping the big game mayhem may be just what the doctor ordered! Zehnder's Snowfest is next week, January 23 - 28.  Celebrating 22 years of winter fun, the Snowfest has been host to one of the top snow scuplting events in North America.  Visitors will enjoy larger-than-life snow sculptures and beautifully detailed ice carvings.  There will be warming tents with live entertainment, food and beverages, a 100-block ice carving exhibition, world class double and single block snow sculpting championships, snow sculpting and ice carving competitions and a fireworks display.  To be sure the atmosphere is perfect, Frankenmuth has been making snow.  Temperatures are going to be chilly, so conditions for the ice carvings and sculptures should be just right.  Rooms at the Webster House for next weekend are filling up fast!

Work has finally begun towards restoring a grand mansion along Center Avenue, our second bed and breakfast in Bay City. It has been designated as the Perry House, named after E.S. Perry who built it in 1912. He was the President of Industrial Brownhoist Corporation. The second President of that company, Hoyt Hayes, resided there after Mr. Perry left. It is considered to be a fine example of Tudor Revival architecture. The home has 32 rooms, 6 bathrooms and bedrooms, 6 fireplaces and an elevator. It was designed to be " fire proof" as they used hollow terra cotta blocks and constructed 13 inch concrete walls, ceilings and floors. This has made our work extremely difficult trying to bring the plumbing and electrical all up to modern day standards, we won't give up. All interesting history, stay tuned to our blog at The Historic Webster House and follow our progress.
