Discover the Story and Magic of Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland

Stepping inside Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland feels like entering a storybook world of twinkling lights and joyful melodies. Founded in 1945 by Wally Bronner, this family-owned business has grown from a small sign-painting hobby into one of Michigan’s most visited attractions, welcoming more than two million guests each year.

Wally’s deep faith and passion for Christmas began as a child singing “Silent Night” at St. Lorenz Church, an experience that inspired him to later build an authentic replica of the Stille Nacht Kapelle chapel from Oberndorf, Austria, right on the store’s grounds. The chapel, softly illuminated each night, serves as a quiet place for reflection amid the bustle of holiday shopping.

Inside the main building, visitors are met with a dazzling display of more than 350 fully decorated trees and themed exhibits celebrating every style of Christmas imaginable: from traditional nativity scenes to playful pop-culture favorites. Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland has over 550 nativity sets, 150 styles of nutcrackers, and an entire section devoted to personalized ornaments. There are over 600,000 customized each year. Half of Bronner’s glass ornaments are exclusive designs, and two-thirds of all items are priced under $20, making it easy to find special keepsakes for everyone on your list.

The magic continues outdoors along Christmas Lane, illuminated nightly with over 100,000 lights that shimmer across Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. Visitors can stop by the Season’s Eatings Café for a sugar cookie, browse the gift shop, or simply stroll through the glowing displays that stretch for blocks. At peak season, nearly 700 staff members keep Bronner’s running, and as many as 50,000 visitors arrive over Thanksgiving weekend alone. With its joyful music, warm hospitality, and remarkable attention to detail, Bronner’s embodies the true spirit of the holidays and stands as one of the top ten man-made attractions in Michigan.

Here are a few highlights to experience at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland:

  1. You don’t have to be a kid to mail a letter to Santa! Drop off your Christmas wishes at the in-store mailbox.
  2. Find the hidden ornament. On each decorated tree at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, a nativity ornament is waiting to be discovered.
  3. Visit the Silent Night Chapel for meditation and reflection.
  4. Enjoy Christmas Lane. Walk or drive through over 100,000 glowing lights that shine from dusk until midnight each evening.
  5. Take a photo with Santa. The 17-foot outdoor Santa statue and in-store photo ops make great keepsakes.
